IFIM hosted its 5th Int’l Conference ‘CONVERGENCE 2013’

IFIM has always brought varied topics to the discussion table in their international conferences, and this year the conference focused on the theme of innovations in four different sectors - Manufacturing, Services, Knowledge based enterprises and the Agriculture and Food Processing sector.

IFIM Business School, Bangalore's No.1 private Business School, hosted its 5th International Conference - CONVERGENCE 2013 at the IFIM campuson Thursday and Friday. The two-day conference, on the "Role of Innovation in Business", saw a host of prominent academicians, industry leaders, practitioners and innovators in business, on a common platform sharing and exchanging different ideas and perspectives on the subject matter.

 

IFIM has always brought varied topics to the discussion table in their international conferences, and this year the conference focused on the theme of innovations in four different sectors - Manufacturing, Services, Knowledge based enterprises and the Agriculture and Food Processing sector. The seminar, which was divided into four tracks, featured three panel discussions and presentation of papers by eminent academicians from various domains and disciplines.

 

The first panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Ashish Chandra from the School of Business, University of Houston-Clear Lake, witnessed the likes Prof. Stroube, Professor and Director of the Health Services Administration Program at the University of Evansville, Dr. Nazerath Lloyd, President and Group COO, Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospitals, Dr. Dayananda, COO, Manipal Group Hospitals and Dr. Abhijit Barve, President, R&D, Biocon Research Centre presenting their opinions on the topic- “Affordable Quality Healthcare: Will Medical Travel Be India’s Next Big Thing?”

 

The second panel discussion on - “Analytics Industry: Is It Undergoing a Tectonic Shift?”, moderated by Prof. U. Dinesh Kumar from IIM Bangalore, brought about fresh discussions on the analytics market in India, by stalwarts in the industry including Pradeep Kumar, Director, Analytics division, HP, Dr. Avik Sarkar from IBM, Anshuman Mishra, Vice President, Analytics, GENPACT and Amith Parameshwara, Associate Director - Service Delivery, [24] 7. The third panel discussion brought forth several thoughts and new ideas on the topic of "Fostering a Culture of Innovation" by panel members Ragavendra, Innovation Manager, Bosch Ltd, Nagaraj, General Manager, Design and Innovedge, Titan Industries Ltd,  Arvin Baalu, Director of Automotive Engineering & Product Delivery, Harman International's India and was moderated by Pavan Soni from IIM Bangalore.

 

Speaking about Convergence, Sanjay Padode, Secretary, IFIM B-School, said, "IFIM has been conducting Convergence for the last 5 years, and each year we provide a forum for discussion and collaboration at an international level. Over the last few years, there has been growing recognition in businesses of the role played by innovation and entrepreneurship in the success of a business. The conference also saw presentation of research papers by scholars and academicians, on subjects like business model innovations, issues and challenges for fostering innovative culture in India, policy support for nurturing innovative culture in India and leadership for enhancing individual and organizational innovativeness.
