International Parkour Athlete Mohammad Al Attar’s second stint in India draws him closer to local parkour athletes

Red Bull Parkour athlete Mohammad Al Attar aka Double Trouble is no stranger to India. During his last visit to the country, he was floored by the budding parkour athletes in India and their skills. So he just had to come back to Rampur, it justhad to be done. As he visited Madhya Pradesh to help budding athletes hone their skills, Al Attar is reminded why he took up the sport in the first place. Their assertiveness combined with the single-minded motive of overcoming their fears reminds him of a time when he was starting out.

Why Rampur? Because it is the hotbed for freerunning and has the largest concentration of Parkour enthusiasts in the country. Because these individuals have got what it takes to break the barriers of uncertainty and dream to fly. It is a lesser known secret that Parkour has seen phenomenal growth in the country thanks to the resilient spirit of this enthusiastic bunch of individuals in Rampur.

What’s more, winner of last year’s Indus Trail- Mujahid Habib was also a part of the extensive workshop with which was held between 8th - 12th Julyin Rampur. Participants learnt new tricks, bigger flips and got more creative with their skill sets.

An animated Al Attar said, “This is the second time for me in India. It’s still completely new and a whole lot different from Mumbai. I loved the fact that even though we were far from the city, Rampur had unique structures and interesting architecture which is feasible for the sport. This was definitely challenging and helped us push ourselves and try new stunts. I enjoyed my time there and will definitely be coming back for more.”

Freerunning is the art of expressing oneself in his or her environment without limitation of movement. It is a martial discipline often using your own body and objects in your natural environment as a means to move and propel yourself with agility.
