Last week, some parts of the country witnessed scanty rainfall while some parts witnessed normal monsoon.

While Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rayalaseema, Bihar and West Bengal saw normal rainfall in the week ended 23 June, it was scanty in the rest of the country.
The IMD today said that it doesn't see monsoon advancing in the next one week, according to media report.

In order to improve monsoon forecasting, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) will fully integrate the advanced dynamical model into its system over the next two years.
The department plans to use only the dynamical model for long and short range forecast by 2017, thus replacing the statistical model which had been proven to lack consistency and reliability.
