Yi XLRI is adjudged winner for “Best Yi Net’ and 'Best Yi Projects in 2012'. Debroop Sengupta, Lead & Secretary, CII Yi XLRI has been announced the winner of 'Best Yi Lead' in the country.

The XLRI team will be presented the awards on the occasion of CII National Summit "Leading India to the future" on 22-23 February, 2013 in New Delhi in the presence of Adi Godrej, Arun Maira, Kris Gopalakrishnan, Shashi Tharoor, Naveen Jindal and other distinguished members from Government of India, Confederation of Indian Industry and international delegates.

“This award is the result of our students’ sincere effort to work for “For Greater Good” of the society. I am extremely happy for our Yi XLRI members and congratulate them for this achievement” Fr. E. Abraham, Director of XLRI said on the occasion.

Yi organizes events that impact the society at large scale. Its endeavor Kshitij has now become a unique platform that provides equal opportunity to around 450 school children from all strata of the society in Jamshedpur to showcase their cultural skills. Its flagship event mini marathon ‘Jamshedpur Run’ is like a festival where more than 500 people from Jamshedpur run for a common social cause every year.

During Joy of Giving Week, CII Yi XLRI organizes Silent Auction where memorabilia and artifacts of XLRI students and faculties are auctioned and fund generated is donated for a noble cause like, relief fund for Sikkim earthquake victims, education for poor children, etc.

Novel activities such as, awareness campaign ‘Jagriti’ was organized to sensitize rural women about the importance of female health, hygiene and sanitation. The event was coordinated by the female students of XLRI who went to villages in the Musabani Tehsil area and trained rural women about female specific health and hygiene related issues; ‘Disha’ – as it provides a direction to many young lives where members of Yi XLRI adopt lesser privileged and poor children, and help them with academic support, bear the cost of education including tuition fees, uniform, books etc.

Apart from these activities, the Net also organized a National Level Photography Competition last year where more than 300 students participated from across 100 colleges of India. The idea of this event was to sensitize young Indians about the rich culture and heritage of India. Jamshedpur National Debate was conducted by the Yi XLRI Net on burning social issues like ‘Right to Education Act’ and its impact on society.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from  students of more than 200 colleges participated, including all IIMs, IITs, colleges under Delhi University, St. Xavier’s Mumbai, and St. Xavier’s Kolkata, Presidency College Kolkata among others.

“We are overwhelmed to receive this prestigious award. This will inspire us all to keep on working “For Greater Good” of the society. Last year we had won an award of appreciation from CII Jharkhand State Council and we wish to keep on contributing our mite”, said Debroop Sengupta, Lead & Secretary, CII Yi XLRI.

“Yi XLRI is initiating new initiatives in coming days like ‘Blue Ocean Dialogue’ and ‘Health Card Scheme’. The purpose of ‘Blue Ocean Dialogue’ is to ignite out of the box thinking among young minds, while, the ‘Health Card Scheme’ will be for children from very poor families to have access to quality healthcare” he added.
