Cambridge International Examinations launches new teacher Professional Development Qualifications in India

Programmes for the new syllabuses will start from September 2014, with monthly exam sessions starting in January 2015

Cambridge International Examinations announced today its new teacher Professional Development Qualifications (PDQs) that provide a framework for continuing professional development for teachers and trainers across the world. Programmes for the new syllabuses will start from September 2014, with monthly exam sessions starting in January 2015. Dr. Paul Beedle, Assistant Director, Education, Cambridge International Examinations chaired the meeting at Utpal Shanghvi School in Mumbai today which was attended by more than 50 schools.  

Cambridge shall be offering Certificate and Diploma in the following areas of focus from 2015 onwards:

a.  Teaching and Learning
b.  Teaching with Digital Technologies
c.  Teaching Bilingual Learners
d.  Educational Leadership
 
Dr. Paul Beedle, Assistant Director, Education, Cambridge International Examinations said, “We place great importance on our work with schools in India, where our qualifications have been taken by students for over 100 years. We understand the importance that teachers in India place on professional development so that they can provide the very best learning experience for their students. We are therefore delighted to launch our new PDQs for the very first time in India.”
 
Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications (PDQs) are practice based, for full-time and part-time teachers. They support teachers by helping them to:

·  Develop fresh ideas and approaches

·  Be confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged

·  Focus on helping learners to learn as actively, constructively and successfully as possible
 
Cambridge Professional Development qualifications are offered in schools, colleges and training organizations, by Programme Leaders who are accredited by Cambridge to develop and deliver the programme. The qualifications are used by ministries of education, school systems, training institutions and individual schools around the world to develop their teachers and demonstrate that their teachers meet international best practice.
