This very first scholarship ceremony was the opportunity for scholarship recipients from 2011 and 2012 to meet the Foundation donors.

Because diversity is one of the founding values of ESSEC Business School, a wide range of financial aid is offered to students, to help them pursue their education with peace of mind. ESSEC scholarships, apprenticeships, partnerships with companies and agreements with financial institutions are some of the options available to help students develop their personal and professional projects.

The ESSEC Foundation actively supports this policy and on April 11, awarded 66 scholarships to students from different ESSEC programs. This very first scholarship ceremony was the opportunity for scholarship recipients from 2011 and 2012 to meet the Foundation donors.

Scholarships to support students

Since it was founded, the ESSEC Foundation has collected €350,000 for scholarships, €250,000 of which were redistributed in 2011 and 2012 to a total of 66 students affiliated with different ESSEC Business School programs:

In 2011, 14 scholarships were awarded for the 2011-2012 academic year to 10 French students, and 4 international students. Ten of these are men, and four are women.

In 2012, 52 scholarships were awarded for the 2012-2013 academic year to 43 French students, and nine international students.

Of these 52 scholarships, nine were financed exclusively by the classes of 87 and 92 through the “Class Gift Anniversaire de Promotion” [class reunion gift], which is a scheme implemented by ESSEC Alumni and supported by the Foundation to reinforce the support offered to younger generations.

"The ESSEC Foundation scholarship has significantly improved the conditions under which I study. I hope to join the Chair in Philanthropy next year and to pursue the double degree program in Cognitive Studies from the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ULM). Pierre-Etienne Fiquet, one of ESSEC's MSc in Management students and recipient of an ESSEC Foundation scholarship told us: "my ambition for the future is to join a consulting firm specializing in development for countries in a post-conflict reconstruction situation."

The scholarship committee comprises members from the School's Academic management, ESSEC's Student Affairs Office and a representative of the Foundation. The selection criterion is based on the income declared for each applicant’s fiscal household. As for the 9 “Class Gift Anniversaire de Promotion” scholarships, the selection of the scholarship recipients was based on outstanding academic achievements such as final the final GMAT score and final admission grades.

The large amount of scholarships awarded by the ESSEC Foundation is first and foremost a result of the commitment of ESSEC Alumni, particularly dedicated to this project, but was also achieved thanks to the classes of 87 and 92, who both launched a Class Gift during their class reunion. The funds collected in 2012 for the Foundation’s scholarship program were triple those collected the previous year.

"Times are difficult and not everyone is lucky enough to be able to access high quality education such as that offered by ESSEC. That is why I decided to support ESSEC and to become a donor to the ESSEC Foundation, because I want to help the younger generations of students in my own way" declared Gilles Roland (E87), ESSEC Foundation Donor.
