Mutual funds off load Rs. 4,018 crore in equity in October

Mutual Funds invested Rs. 37,171 crore in debt market in October 2013 as against of Rs. 81,970 crore invested in September 2013.

Asset management companies (AMCs) made net investment of Rs. 33,153 crore in the secondary market in October 2013 compared to net investment of Rs. 79,169 crore in September 2013, according to SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India).

Mutual funds sold Rs. 4,018 crore in equity in October 2013 compared to Rs. 2,801 crore sold in September 2013. Mutual Funds invested Rs. 37,171 crore in debt market in October 2013 as against of Rs. 81,970 crore invested in September 2013.

As on October 31, 2013 there were a total of 1,335 schemes under mutual funds of which Income/Debt oriented schemes were 891 (67.4 percent), Growth/ equity oriented scheme were 344 (25.8 percent), Exchange Traded Funds were 38 schemes (2.8 percent), Balanced schemes were 30 (2.3 percent) and Fund of Funds investing Overseas schemes were 23(1.7 percent).

The number of schemes at the end of 2012-13 was 1,294 of which Income/Debt oriented schemes were 857 (66.2 percent), Growth/ equity oriented scheme were 347 (26.8 percent), Exchange Traded Funds were 37 schemes (2.9 percent), Balanced schemes were 32 (2.5 percent) and Fund of Funds investing Overseas schemes were 21 (1.6 percent).
