Nifty Pharma defies bull run, sheds near 100 pts with all stocks in red; Dr Reddys, Cadila worst hit

The Nifty Pharma pulled back from their previous day's rally and was trading on a bearish tone on Wednesday's session despite positive broader markets. The Index shed nearly 1% despite Sensex hit a new record highs, however, the overall sentiments on the pharma index were on the selling front.

At around 10:35 AM, the Sensex was up 132.66 points or 0.24% at 56,091.64, and the Nifty was up 61.95 points or 0.37% at 16,686.55.

As Nifty pharma in a nosedive session, all 10 stocks declined today. Dr Reddy's dragged the most while Cadila, Biocon, Divis Lab and Cipla were also struggling.

Nifty Pharma index, meantime, traded at 13,779.45 down 96.60 points or 0.70%, after touching a high of 13,902.85 and low of 13,767.90 during intraday trade.

Dr Reddy's shed 1.18% at Rs4,533.10 per piece to emerge the biggest loser. Cadila dragged 0.79% at Rs544.55 per piece. Biocon was down 0.73% at Rs346.95 per piece. Divis Lab and Cipla declined 0.66% and 0.62% respectively and Sun Pharma dropped 0.54% at Rs767.20 per piece.

Stocks like Torrent Pharma, Alkem Labs and Lupin were marginally down to trade in the red while Aurobindo Pharma was trading flat.
