Tata Motors Ltd reported a 2% increase in total domestic vehicle sales in September to 82,023 units, up from 80,633 units in the same month previous year, on October 1.
Tata Motors reported in a regulatory filing that passenger car sales in the domestic market, including electric vehicles, were down 6% last month at 44,809 units, compared to 47,654 units in September 2022.
Electric vehicle sales, including international markets, were at 6,050 units, up 57% from 3,864 units in the previous month.
Passenger vehicle sales remained high in the second quarter of FY24, led by new launches and pre-Christmas offtakes. Tata Motors reported quarterly sales of 1,38,939 cars and SUVs in Q2FY24, which were around 2.7% lower than the company’s highest-ever quarter, Q2FY23.
According to the company, overall commercial vehicle sales increased by 12% in September 2023 to 39,064 units, up from 34,890 units in September 2022.
Tata Motors Executive Director Girish Wagh stated that the company’s commercial vehicle domestic sales were 99,178 in Q2FY24, a 6% increase over Q2FY23.
The medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment grew by 24% in Q2 of FY23, fueled by the government’s ongoing infrastructure drive.
At around 10.13 AM, Tata Motors was trading 1.38% lower at Rs 621.50, against the previous close of Rs 630.20 on NSE.
