On September 17, Vodafone India Limited submitted a ‘requisite payment’ to the telecom department of Rs 1,701 crore for the 2022 spectrum auction installment.
According to a regulatory filing from the cellular operator on August 14, the promoter group entity of Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) has promised the business Rs 2,000 crore in financial help if it needs it to meet upcoming payment obligations.
In early September, VIL had cleared around 10% of its April-June quarter dues to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Vodafone Idea owes the DoT around Rs 700 crore in spectrum usage charges, license payments, and other statutory obligations. To make matters worse, the telecom company is experiencing financial instability as a result of massive losses and a Rs 2.1 lakh crore running debt, according to the article. It has improved crucial metrics such as the number of 4G users and the average revenue per user (ARPU), which measures profitability.
