Facebook announced two key appointments to launch its operations office in India, marking the company’s progress towards establishing a local team amid rapid growth in India and around the world.

As Director of Online Operations, Kirthiga Reddy will head Facebook’s operations in India, supporting the company’s growing number of users, advertisers and developers worldwide who are capitalizing on Facebook’s global service to foster relationships with people and reach out to new customers locally and internationally.  Kirthiga and the India team will also be instrumental in developing effective relationships with government officials at the city, state, and national levels.

Working closely with Kirthiga, Manoj Varghese, Director of User Operations, will specialize in building a world-class user support team to serve the needs of the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who actively use Facebook every day, including more than 8 million active users in India.  Both Kirthiga and Manoj will be based in Facebook’s newly opened office in Hyderabad. Facebook also intends to expand its management team in India, adding leadership that will specialize in spearheading local programs and building partner relationships. Together with Kirthiga and Manoj’s roles leading Online and User Operations, this partner team will advance Facebook’s ongoing commitment to India.

Kirthiga joins Facebook from Phoenix Technologies, where she served as Vice President and General Manager, heading Phoenix India’s team in Bangalore.  Prior to her role at Phoenix, she spent a number of years leading Motorola’s Good Technology Group, based in Hyderabad.  Kirthiga received her B.E. in Computer Science from Marathwada University, Aurangabad, India.  She holds an M.S. In Computer Engineering from Syracuse University, New York and an M.B.A. with top honors from Stanford Graduate School of Business, California.

Manoj joins Facebook from Google, where he served as Director of People Operations, responsible for HR and staffing in the Japan and Asia Pacific regions. Prior to his role at Google, he led HR for Dell International Services’ Hyderabad site, as well as managed staffing for Dell India. Manoj also has experience at Infosys Technologies Bangalore and Maruti Suzuki Gurgaon, where he also held people and organizational management positions.  Manoj received his B.Tech. in Electronics and Communications from National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India. He also holds an M.B.A. from XLRI, Jamshedpur, India.

“We’ve spent the past few months searching globally for a strong candidate capable of leading Facebook’s ambitious operations in India,” said Don Faul, Director of Global Online Operations for Facebook.  “Kirthiga’s deep experience in technology, business savvy and respected success leading teams make her a perfect match for this role.  As Kirthiga knows better than anyone, global operations are only as strong as the people behind them, and Manoj comes with a proven record of creating dynamic operations teams.  We are confident the people he brings to Facebook will be excellent liaisons between the company and Facebook’s incredibly diverse user base”, he added.

“Facebook’s commitment to its users, advertisers, and developers is directly tied to the company’s mission to help the world become more open and connected,” said Kirthiga.  “I’m honored to be part of that mission right here in India, where so many people are passionate about Facebook and the future of the social web.”

“Hyderabad’s incredibly talented applicant pool makes it an exciting place to hire a dynamic team,” added Manoj.  “I can’t wait to get started.”
