14 Dec 2023 , 12:50 PM

On Wednesday, Tata Power Renewable Energy announced that it has signed a contract to create a 13.2 MW group captive solar facility with the Dr. Abhay Firodia Group of Companies, which includes Force Motors Ltd and Jaya Hind Industries Pvt Ltd. ‘Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) entered into a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) with Dr. Abhay Firodia Group of Companies — Force Motors Limited and Jaya Hind Industries Private Limited — for supplying green power for 25 years under Group Captive scheme,’ stated a statement from the company.

A power plant is created under the group captive strategy for the combined use of several consumers. Through this agreement, sustainable energy solutions for industrial use will advance significantly.

As per the agreement, 13.64 million units (MUs) will be consumed annually by Force Motors Ltd, a completely vertically integrated vehicle firm, using 6.2 MW AC power. In contrast, Jaya Hind Industries Private Ltd., the other group company, will consume 7.0 MW AC power, requiring 15.40 MUs annually.

This 13.2 MW AC solar project, which generates 29.04 MUs of power yearly and is situated in Achegaon, Maharashtra, is expected to cut carbon emissions by about 21,200 metric tonnes annually. The electricity delivery deal will be signed, and the project is expected to be finished in a year.

The group captive solar plant’s development, administration, and upkeep will be supervised by TPREL. In addition to receiving a clean, dependable power supply from the plant, Force Motors Ltd. and Jaya Hind Industries Private Ltd. would also have the opportunity to actively support environmental sustainability.

In the statement, Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy, stated, ‘It will set new benchmarks in the automotive sector towards adoption of clean energy for environmentally conscious future.’ One of the biggest integrated power corporations in India, Tata Power Company Limited, is the parent company of Tata Power Renewable Energy.

With this expansion, TPREL’s total renewable capacity increased to 8,327 MW (PPA capacity is 7,338 MW). This includes 4,107 MW of projects in various stages of development and 4,220 MW of operating capacity, which is made up of 1,019 MW of wind and 3,201 MW of solar projects.
