Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the groundwork for three renewable energy projects costing Rs 25,850 crore in Nandyala district on Wednesday, which would generate 5,314 MW of power from solar, wind, and pumped energy storage.
The three projects are planned to employ approximately 5,300 workers in total.
He laid the foundations for Greenko Energies’ solar power plant in Junuthala village in Owk mandal, which will cost Rs 10,350 crore and will have a capacity of 2,300 MW. It will employ approximately 2,300 people.
Similarly, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for a 1,014 MW renewable energy project by Arcelor Mittal in Kandikayapalle village in Panyam Mandal, which includes a 700 MW solar power plant and a 314 MW wind power facility with a Rs 4,500 crore investment. This project will likely employ 1,000 workers.
The third project, a 2,000 MW Ecoren project in Muddavaram hamlet in Bethamcherla mandal, will cost Rs 11,000 crore. This project will employ 2,000 workers and will be evenly split between solar and wind power-producing modes at 1,000 MW each.
The Andhra Pradesh government and NHPC will work jointly to complete these projects, splitting the costs equally.
