Apollo Hospitals to replace Indian Oil on Nifty 50 benchmark; Stock jumps 5%

Apollo Hospitals Ltd. added 4.98% in today’s trade as the multinational hospital chain operator to be added on NSE Nifty 50 benchmark as of March 31, 2022, replacing the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). It is done as a part of a semi-annual index review and the changes will also apply to the Nifty 50 Equal Weight Index.

The exchange also shuffled the Nifty 500, Nifty Next 50, Nifty 100, and Nifty Midcap 150 indices, joined by other indices as well.

It was currently trading at Rs4600 against its previous closing price of Rs4,381.95. So far it moved in a band of Rs4,747 -4,465.75.

On the contrary, IOCL Ltd. managed to add 1.91% despite the negative news for the oil operator. It was trading at Rs112.10 against its previous closing price of Rs110.
