Arnab Roy is appointed chief financial officer for Maruti Suzuki

Arnab Roy’s appointment as Maruti Suzuki’s Chief Financial Officer was accepted by the board on Tuesday, the firm reported in a filing with the exchange. Beginning on October 16, 2023, he will serve as CFO-designate, and on January 1, 2024, he will serve as CFO full-time.

Roy will succeed Ajay Seth, the current CFO, who will retire from the position on December 31, 2023. He will stay on the executive board after the completion.

With over 26 years of experience working with US, British, and French MNCs, Arnab Roy is a seasoned professional with expertise in all facets of finance and accounting. After graduating from Ranchi University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, and mathematics, he went on to study cost accounting and chartered accounting. The IIM Bangalore awarded him an Executive MBA as well.

He has handled mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as well as other expansion initiatives like contract manufacturing, licencing, collaborating with investment bankers on potential acquisition prospects, etc. successfully throughout his career. He has contributed to the analysis of value chains, the creation of distributor footprints, the assessment of channel partners, and the selection of the best channel strategy.

He has been the Greater India Region’s Zone Chief Financial Officer since January 2022, overseeing all Schneider operations with an estimated Rs 22,000 crores ($3 billion) in annual revenue. He oversees a finance team of more than 200 individuals in the Greater India Region, in addition to shared services, and acts as a director in more than 12 Schneider Companies, including a listed firm from a governance perspective.

For the past 17 years, he has worked as the Country and Business Unit CFO, assisting the CEO in the management of the company and assessing the financial and legal ramifications of business decisions. He has extensive working expertise in transfer pricing, domestic and international taxation. He has experience managing the Sales, HR Admin, and IT verticals in addition to Finance.
