Jet fuel prices were hiked by 2 per cent – the seventh straight increase this year – to an all-time high, reflecting a surge in global energy prices.
The increase in ATF price comes on the back of the steepest ever hike 18.3 per cent (Rs17,135.63 per kl) effected on March 16. Unlike the rates of petrol and diesel, which are revised on a daily basis, the ATF prices are revised twice a month, on the 1st and 16th days, depending upon the average price of the international benchmark in the preceding fortnight, the media reports added.
This year, starting January 1, it has witnessed an ATF price increment every fortnight. In total, the jet fuel has become Rs38,902.92 kL costlier or jumped 50% in 2022 so far.
