On Thursday, Tata Motors revealed that JLR and the company have teamed together to build TaMo’s high-end, all-electric Avinya series.
An agreement was made between JLR (Jaguar Land Rover Plc) and TPEM (Tata Passenger Electric Mobility) for the licensing of JLR’s platform in exchange for a royalty fee for the development of Avinya series vehicles.
Over 200 new jobs are anticipated to be created in the UK as a result of this knowledge, skills, and manufacturing process transfer, according to the car major.
According to a statement from Tata Motors, TPEM and JLR will also sign an Engineering Services Agreement (ESA) to assist TPEM’s change content requirements for the first vehicle development.
The next generation of JLR’s ‘pure electric’ mid-sized SUVs for international markets, which will go on sale starting in 2025, will be supported by the company’s EMA platform. According to the company, having access to JLR’s EMA platform will speed up TPEM’s entry into the high-end EV market while cutting expenses and development cycle times.
Anand Kulkarni, Chief Product Officer and Head of HV Programs at TPEM, stated that ‘Avinya will spawn a new breed of world class EVs, with global standards in efficiency and range, being built on an architecture that is equipped with the latest advances in new age technology, software, and artificial intelligence.’
