Axis Bank names Munish Sharda as its Executive Director

Axis Bank stated on Thursday that its board of directors has authorised the nomination of Munish Sharda as the bank’s Whole-time Director, inter alia Executive Director, for a three-year term beginning November 1 or the date of the Reserve Bank of India’s approval of his appointment.

Sharda is also liable to retire by rotation, stated the Mumbai-based bank. The 52-year-old banker is now the Group Executive & Head of Bharat Banking at Axis Bank Limited.

As part of his responsibilities in this capacity, he has been responsible for driving business growth in rural and semi-urban regions across all of the bank’s product offerings since September 2021.

He brings over 25 years of expertise in the banking and financial services sectors to the table.

Sharda spent over seven years with Citi Group and as the MD and CEO of Future Generali India Life Insurance Company Limited. He has also worked in the consumer products business with Blow Plast Limited and engineering company Larsen & Toubro Limited, according to the bank.
