Bajaj Auto is actively developing a two-wheeler running on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) with plans for a 2025 launch, according to CEO Rajiv Bajaj.
In an interview on November 22, Bajaj stated that there are currently no CNG two-wheelers available worldwide. He highlighted challenges in the two-wheeler industry, citing over-regulation and taxation, with 60% of the three-wheeler industry already transitioning to CNG.
Auto sales, particularly in the two-wheeler segment, have not fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels. Bajaj aims to achieve monthly sales of 10,000 units for the upcoming two-wheeler CNG model.
The company plans to double production and sales of Triumph motorcycles to 18,000 units in the third quarter of the current fiscal year. Bajaj emphasized providing affordable aspiration through the collaboration with Triumph, offering premium products with great value.
The new manufacturing plant for Triumph production in Chakan, Pune, required an investment of approximately Rs 200 crore. Bajaj Auto is set to launch new products starting from the next month.
Bajaj Auto and Triumph jointly unveiled the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X motorcycles in India on July 5 as part of their 2017 collaboration.
