According to news reports, Assam-based PSU Brahmaputra Crakers and Polymers (BCPL) has proposed investing Rs450 crore for a naphtha import storage and despatch facility in West Bengal’s Haldia port area.
The largest petrochemical project in the northeast, the famous Assam Gas Cracker project, is being carried out by BCPL.
The business gave Kolkata Port, now known as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, the project’s feasibility report (SMP).

The establishment of a liquid cargo handling jetty and related facilities at Shalukkhali, Haldia Dock-II on a design, construct, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis for a 30-year concession period was awarded to Hooghly Oil and Gas Terminal Private Limited on Thursday, according to Kumar.
In SMP Kolkata, there are currently three Rs750 crore projects under construction, and over the next three to four years, he said, many more projects totalling Rs2,500 million will be completed.
