CCEA Approves Rs 13,052.81 Crore Joint Venture for Coal-to-SNG Project by CIL and GAIL

The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved equity investments for the Rs 13,052.81 crores joint venture between Coal India Limited (CIL) and GAIL.

The joint venture involves the Coal to Synthetic Gas (SNG) Project located in the Sonebazari Bazari Coal Mines area of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL).

The CCEA, on the same day, approved two projects:

• The Coal-to-SNG (Synthetic Natural Gas) Project at ECL command area through a joint venture of CIL & GAIL.
• The Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate Project at MCL command area through a joint venture of CIL & BHEL.
