Wipro GE HealthCare, a maker of medical equipment, named Chaitanya Sarawate as its managing director on Thursday. In addition, he will take over as president and CEO of GE HealthCare South Asia.
Sarawate replaces Shravan Subramanyam, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
In India, Wipro and GE Healthcare operate as a joint venture.
Saravate will work closely with Shravan to ensure a smooth transition into his new role, which will begin on February 13, 2023, and will report to Elie Chaillot, president, and CEO of GE HealthCare Intercontinental.
Saravate has been with GE HealthCare for over 12 years and has over two decades of corporate and healthcare experience.
He will be responsible for strengthening the company’s market leadership position in South Asia by driving localization strategy and providing clinical excellence, access, and precision care in his new role.
Sarava6 previously served as AKA’s chief marketing and strategy officer (ASEAN, Korea, Australia & New Zealand).
GE HealthCare completed its spin-off earlier this month and began trading on the Nasdaq. GE HealthCare has increased its presence in India over the last several decades by investing heavily in R&D, manufacturing, distribution capabilities, and supply chain.
