Indian benchmark indices may start the week with lacklustre numbers. On Friday, markets closed under pressure with major losses. Nifty 50 closed down by 115 points. Sensex ended 365 points lower.
On the global front, US markets closed in mixed spirits. Dow Jones ended 105 points higher. Nasdaq closed with a decline of 93 points. S&P 500 was down by 5 points in the last session.
Asian peers are subdued in today’s early morning session. Chinese Shanghai Composite was trading 1.47% lower. Hong Kong Heng Seng is trading with a downside of 2.69%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.96% lower. Taiwan index is trading 1.70% lower. South Korean Kospi is down by 1%.
Nifty Midcap 50 closed 0.50% lower. Nifty Bank was down by 0.77% in Friday’s session.
In Friday’s trade, HCLTech, Power Grid, Titan, Tata Steel, and Ultratech Cement were the top gainers. Top laggards were IndusInd Bank, SBI Life, UPL, Tata Consumer, and Asian Paints.
Oil prices were slightly lower in today’s early morning trade. The Indian Rupee closed at 82.74 against the US Dollar, down by 8 paise.
