Indian equity indices ended higher on March 14, with the Nifty reaching 22,150 amid buying across sectors, except for banking names.
At close, the Sensex was up by 335.39 points or 0.46% at 73,097.28, while the Nifty gained 149.00 points or 0.68%, reaching 22,146.70. Market activity showcased 2612 shares advancing, 1090 shares declining, and 100 shares remaining unchanged.
Top gainers on the Nifty included Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco Industries, and ONGC, while notable losers included Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel, and JSW Steel.
Except banking, all other sectoral indices ended in the green, with telecom, power, and oil & gas sectors adding 3% each, while auto, capital goods, FMCG, Information Technology, healthcare, and metal sectors rose by 1-2%.
The broader indices outperformed the main indices, with the BSE Midcap index rising by 2.2% and the Smallcap index gaining 3%.
