December 07: NSE Imposes F&O Ban on Five Stocks Due to Market-Wide Position Limit Breach

7 Dec 2023 , 09:23 AM

On December 7, 2023, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) imposed a trade ban on five stocks in the futures and options (F&O) segment. The ban was applied because these stocks surpassed 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL), as per the NSE regulations.

The affected stocks are Delta Corp, Indiabulls Housing Finance, India Cements, SAIL, and ZEEL. Despite the F&O ban, these stocks remain available for trading in the cash market.

The NSE regularly updates the list of securities under the F&O ban on a daily basis. According to the NSE, derivative contracts for the mentioned stocks have exceeded 95% of the MWPL, leading to the imposition of the ban.

During the F&O ban period, stock exchanges prohibit the initiation of fresh positions for any F&O contracts related to the specified stocks.
