Economic Buzz: Eurozone Inflation Hits Fresh Record High At 10%

Euro zone inflation soared to a new record high of 10% in September, Eurostat data showed on Friday. This marked a steep rise 9.1% in August and above consensus projections of 9.7%. Bulk of the gains were led by energy prices which rose 40.8% year-on-year, up from 38.6% in August and food, alcohol and tobacco prices which jumped 11.8% from 10.6% last month. However, core inflation, which excludes food and energy, also stayed elevated, rising 4.8% on the year, up from 4.3% in August.Powered by Commodity Insights
