Economic Buzz: Germany Retail Sales Recover By 0.6% In May

According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the real (price-adjusted) turnover of retail enterprises in Germany was 0.6% and the nominal (not price-adjusted) turnover was 2.0% higher, on a calendar and seasonally adjusted basis, in May 2022 compared with April 2022. Compared with May 2021, retail trade recorded a 3.6% decrease in turnover in real terms and a nominal increase of 4.1% in May 2022. The difference between the results in real and nominal terms reflects the high price increases in retail trade.Powered by Commodity Insights
