According to news reports, a sizable portion of Go First aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) has taken sick leave over the previous three days in protest of their low pay. This occurs shortly after a sizable number of IndiGo AMTs in Hyderabad and Delhi took sick leave due to a related issue, resulting in disciplinary action being taken against them by the airline.
The concerned technicians have been instructed by IndiGo to visit the airline’s doctor along with the required medical records to confirm whether they were genuinely ill.
According to the reports, several of the Go First technicians who have been absent due to illness for the past three days have sent emails to the airline’s management requesting raises in pay.
Indian carriers, which were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, had reduced staff salaries in order to save money.
