GCPL Inaugurates Rs 515 Crore Plant in Tamil Nadu, Focused on Innovation and Inclusivity

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) collaborates with the Tamil Nadu State Government for the inauguration of its advanced manufacturing plant during the Global Investors Meet 2024 in Chennai.

The Rs 515-crore investment aims to improve delivery times, optimize inventory management, and reduce overall costs.

The state-of-the-art facility was established following a significant MoU signed in August 2023 between GCPL and the state government, focusing on accelerating the production of flagship brands such as Cinthol, Godrej Expert Rich Crème, Godrej Selfie Shampoo Hair Colour, and Goodknight.

The facility aspires to be a ‘lighthouse factory,’ emphasizing sustainability, safety, and automation, with an inclusive and gender-balanced workforce. Incentives from the government include commitments to employ at least 50% women and 5% employees from the LGBTQI and people with disabilities communities.

The digitally connected shop floor integrates manufacturing technologies with IT advancements to enhance efficiency and resource optimization.

The new plant is expected to significantly contribute to GCPL’s production capabilities and overall production capacity.
