The Indian Air Force received the first LCA Tejas dual seater aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
The dual seater design, according to the Bengaluru-based business, has all the necessary capabilities to fulfill the IAF's training needs and can even expand to serve as a fighter if necessary.
Defence Minister of the Union The introduction of the LCA twin seater, the awarding of the Release to Service (RSD) and the Signalling out Certificate (SOC) took place at the event, which featured Ajay Bhatt as the principal guest in addition to Air principal Marshal VR Chaudhari, the head of the air staff.
The LCA Tejas twin seater is a 4.5 generation, light weight, multi-role aircraft.
According to HAL, it combines modern ideas and technology including effortless manoeuvring, advanced glass cockpits, integrated digital avionics systems, and advanced composite materials for the airframe. Other features include relaxed static stability, quadraplex fly-by-wire flight control, and relaxed static stability.
The government of India remarked that this raises the profile of its 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative and places India among the 'very few' elite nations that have developed such capabilities and had them operational in their armed forces.
The production of an LCA twin seater, which was planned with the strategic goal of graduating aspiring pilots from twin seater variants to fighter pilots, will be marked by the historic event that took place today, according to HAL.
Eight of the 18 twin-seaters that HAL has on order from the IAF are expected to be delivered in 2023–2024. By 2026–2027, the remaining 10 would be gradually supplied.
