A contract for the next five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLVs) worth Rs860 crore was given to a space consortium created by Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), indicating the industry’s robust expansion and consolidation.
The 7th Bengaluru Space Expo 2022’s opening session on Monday saw the announcement that “(the) HAL-L&T partnership got a Rs860-crore contract for end-to-end realization of five PSLVs over a period of four years from NewsSpace India (NSIL)”.
The workhorse of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), PSLV, has completed over 52 successful launches over the years, and the rocket has acquired operational status.
Since 1990, Isro has launched 319 customer satellites from 33 nations using the PSLV, a satellite launch service. A PSLV set a global record in September 2016 when it launched 104 satellites into orbit.
