HFCL, Qualcomm partner for 5G Outdoor Small Cell product development; stock zooms ~4%

HFCL Limited announced that it has entered into a design and development agreement with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. for 5G Outdoor Small Cell devices. In line with its 5G plan, HFCL’s investment in 5G Outdoor Small Cell devices will enable quicker network rollout, greater 5G user experience, and more efficient spectrum usage.

The 5G Outdoor Small Cell from HFCL is an All-in-One Small Cell that supports both 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) modes. It has various deployment options and may be put on street poles, building walls, and rooftops to cover traffic hotspots, fill network coverage gaps, and increase coverage at public venues such as train stations, stadiums, and airports.

To deliver a small form factor, power-efficient operation, spatial multiplexing, and multigigabit throughputs for a ubiquitous 5G experience, HFCL’s 5G Outdoor Small Cell uses some of the novel characteristics of the Qualcomm FSM 200xx 5G RAN Platform for Small Cells, said the company on Thursday.

According to Fortune Business Insights, the global 5G small cell market would grow at a CAGR of 54.4% from USD 740 million in 2020 to USD 17.9 billion by 2028.

HFCL was trading at Rs77.40 up by 4.03% from its previous closing of Rs74.40 on the BSE. The scrip touched intraday high and low of Rs78.35 and Rs75.15 respectively.
