Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), a Vedanta group company, announced that company has clocked the highest-ever mined metal production in the first quarter at 257 kilotonnes (KT), up 2% year-on-year.
This was due to increased ore production at the Rampura Agucha and Kayad mines, as well as improved mined metal grades and mill recovery, according to the company in an exchange filing.
However, in line with mine preparation activities that take place every year in the first quarter, mined metal production was down 15% quarter-on-quarter.
In the first quarter, refined metal production was 260 KT. It was lower by 4% sequentially, in line with plant availability. According to the company, integrated zinc production was 209 KT, up 1% year-on-year and down 3% QoQ.
Refined lead production was 51 KT, a 6% year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter decrease at par with plant availability. In line with lead metal production and higher WIP depletion, saleable silver production was 5.8 million ounces (Moz), up 1% y-o-y and down 2% QoQ.
Wind power generation was 130 million units (MUs) in the first quarter of FY24, down by 13% on a y-o-y basis, but up 84% sequentially, depending on wind velocity and seasonality.
