Rohit Jawa is set to take over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Hindustan Unilever tomorrow, a day after Sanjiv Mehta retires.
Recognized for his instrumental role in revolutionizing the consumer goods company’s operations in China and the Philippines, Jawa currently holds the position of Chief of Transformation in his London-based role. With a career spanning over 35 years, the 56-year-old Unilever veteran commenced his journey as a management trainee in 1988.
As per Hindustan Unilever’s annual report, Jawa is expected to receive an annual remuneration of Rs 21.43 crore in his new position as the Managing Director and CEO. Additionally, he will be granted a mobility-linked allowance of Rs 4.83 crore during FY24.
Having graduated from St. Stephen’s College in 1986, Jawa pursued an MBA in marketing from the Faculty of Management Studies at Delhi University. Subsequently, he embarked on his professional journey by joining HUL as a management trainee in 1988.
According to the company, Jawa led Unilever Philippines to become one of the top ten markets for the multinational. He transformed Unilever China into a competitive, profitable, and consistent business as EVP for North Asia and Chairman of China business. It is now Unilever’s third-largest global venture.
