In a trademark infringement case, Delhi High Court awards Adobe over Rs 2 crore

5 Dec 2022 , 10:09 AM

The Delhi High Court awarded more than Rs2 crore in damages to the US-based computer software giant in a case alleging trademark infringement by Namase Patel over the name of Adobe.
Similar domain names for other computer software and other IT-related services were registered by the accused.
Patel and anybody connected to him is prohibited from registering any domain names containing the words “Adobe,” “Photoshop,” or “Spark,” since doing so might constitute a trademark violation by the firm.
To prevent their misuse after their term expired, Justice C. Hari Shankar ordered that access to the websites copying Adobe’s mark remains restricted and that the same be handed over to Adobe.
Patel is not permitted to reveal any confidential information about Adobe to any third parties, he added.
