According to data released on Tuesday by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), India’s overall vehicle sales in August increased 9% year over year.
The increase was seen in all vehicle categories, with 2W experiencing a 6% increase, PV at a 6.5% increase, Trac increasing by 14%, and CV increasing by 3%.
Although the tractor segment had a significant 19% contraction, the industry as a whole saw a 3% gain in total car retail sales.
In August, sales of three-wheelers (3W) increased by 66% on an annual basis, setting a string of monthly all-time high retail records.
The 3W sales for August reached a high of 99,907 units, an increase of 6% from the previous month.
According to the most recent data, sales of tractors decreased by 19% in contrast to other categories. The CV industry showed a complex picture; despite challenges like slow cargo transit, verticals like cement, iron ore, and coal showed strong demand.
According to the FADA report, which cited a report from Reuters, the weather is also anticipated to have an impact on rural demand during the crucial Navratri–Diwali period because India is predicted to have its lowest monsoon levels in eight years, raising concerns about soil moisture and the effect on winter crops.
