Indian equity markets come under the shadow of SVB Bank failure

Indian equity markets ended the day in deep red today. The shadow of the failure of SVB Bank was felt in Indian markets. During market hours news of failure of another American bank, Signature Bank came. This depressed market sentiments further. 

Nifty 50 closed, down by 258.60 points. Sensex closed, down by 897.28 points. Top Gainers were Tech Mahindra, Apollo Hospitals and Britannia. Top Losers were IndusInd Bank, State Bank and Tata Motors.

All the broader indices ended the day in red. Due to increased macroeconomic uncertainty caused by two bank failures in US, small and micro-cap stocks saw heavy selling pressure today. Banking stocks saw heavy selling pressure.

Yes Bank, Idea and Zomato were the most traded stocks today at NSE, in terms of volume. HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, and Tech Mahindra were the most traded stocks, in terms of value. 28 stocks touched new 52-week high today at NSE. 158 stocks touched new 52- week low. Market breadth was highly negative today.
