Indian equity markets end the day in red

Indian equity markets ended the day in red today. Markets saw some buying support in the last two hours. Nifty 50 closed, down by 56.95 points. Sensex closed, down by 175.18 points. Top Gainers today were ICICI Bank, Power Grid and Kotak Bank. Top Losers today were Adani Enterprises, Bajaj-Auto and UPL. 

Mid-cap and small-cap stocks saw selling pressure today. Heavy selling pressure was seen in many IT stocks, Media stocks, and Metal stocks. Zee Entertainment’s stock again came under selling pressure today.

Yes Bank, Idea and PNB were the most traded stocks today at NSE, in terms of trading volume. Adani Enterprises, ICICI Bank and Reliance were the most traded stocks, in terms of value. 25 stocks touched new 52-week high today at NSE. 268 stocks touched new 52-week low. This indicates that market breadth was negative.
