Indian equity markets end the day on a flat note

21 Apr 2023 , 03:55 PM

Indian equity markets ended the day on a flat note today. Nifty 50 closed, down by 0.40 points. Sensex closed, down by 22.71 points. Top Gainers today were ITC, TCS and Britannia. Top Losers today were HDFC Life, Tech Mahindra and Adani Enterprises.

At NSE, all the broader markets ended the day in red. Buying demand was seen in some Media stocks, FMCG stocks and IT stocks. Some realty stocks came under selling pressure. This probably happened after comments by some RBI Monetary Policy Committee members that the fight against inflation is still not over. This raised fear that there is still a probability that RBI may start interest rate hikes once again in the near future.

Idea, Zomato, and Yes Bank were the most traded stocks today at NSE, in terms of volume. ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and Axis Bank were the most traded stocks in terms of value. 42 stocks touched new 52-week high, today at NSE. 12 stocks touched new 52-week low.
