On January 11, Indian benchmark indices eked out marginal gains in a volatile trading session.

At the close, the Sensex recorded an uptick of 63.47 points or 0.09%, reaching 71,721.18, while the Nifty inched up by 28.50 points or 0.13%, settling at 21,647.20. The market witnessed 2022 advancing shares, 1251 declining shares, and 63 shares remained unchanged.

Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, and BPCL emerged as top gainers on the Nifty, whereas Infosys, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, SBI Life Insurance, HUL, and Wipro were among the losers.

The sectoral performance displayed a mixed trend, with the BSE Capital Goods index down by 1% and the BSE IT index down by 0.5%. On the other hand, the BSE auto and oil & gas indices marked an uptrend, gaining 1% each.

Broader indices outshone the main indices, with both the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices adding 0.7% each.
