In order to establish more than 500 fast and ultra-quick electric vehicle (EV) charging stations around India, Tata Power announced on Monday that its business, Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited, had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
Tata Power announced in a statement that it will deploy EV charging stations at several IOCL retail locations.
According to the statement, these EV charging stations will be positioned along important thoroughfares including the Mumbai-Pune Motorway, Salem-Kochi Highway, Guntur-Chennai Highway, and the Golden Quadrilateral, in addition to key cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Kochi.
According to Tata Power, EV customers will benefit from a smooth EV charging experience via the ‘Tata Power EZ Charge’ and ‘IndianOil e-Charge’ smartphone apps, which allow them to find and reserve the chargers whenever it is most convenient for them.
Executive Director (Retail-N&E) Saumitra Shrivastava reaffirmed the Corporation’s dedication to adjusting to the growing trend of electric car uptake. By 2024, IOCL hopes to have 10,000 EV charging stations available, converting retail locations into full-service energy solutions providers. The company already has over 6,000 EV charging stations, and it intends to continue growing. In order to adapt to this revolutionary change, our strategic alliance with Tata Power is well-positioned to be extremely important. At IOCL, we’re prepared to take advantage of these opportunities and overcome obstacles in order to facilitate a smooth transition to a more environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility paradigm.’
Tata Power holds a significant market share of around 60% and has established itself as a leader in the electric vehicle charging industry. With over 420 cities in its vast nationwide network, they provide a wide range of charging options, including as 4,900 public and semi-public charging stations, 430 bus charging stations, and over 62,000 home chargers. Interestingly, this network is always growing, demonstrating Tata Power’s steadfast dedication to improving the availability of electric vehicle charging stations across the country.
