20 Oct 2022 , 06:18 AM

According to preliminary figures from the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), total mineral production in India increased by 4.2% in the first five months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

August saw significant mineral production of 580 lakh tonnes of coal, 29 lakh tonnes of lignite, 2,829 million cubic metres of used natural gas, 24 lakh tonnes of crude oil, and 14.5 lakh tonnes of bauxite.

The mining and quarrying sector’s index of mineral production was 3.9% lower in August than it was in the same month a year prior, at 99.6.

Coal, lead concentrate, zinc concentrate, and limestone all experienced growth during the reviewed month.

On the other side, the main minerals that had negative growth in August were magnesite, manganese ore, crude oil, and natural gas.
