Indian benchmark indices are expected to open flat to positive on December 6, 2024. The GIFT Nifty traded flat this morning around 24,794.
On December 5, markets closed higher for the fifth straight session despite volatility. Investors continued buying as FIIs remained net buyers.
The Sensex rose 809.53 points, or 1%, to close at 81,765.86. The Nifty ended 240.95 points higher, gaining 0.98% to settle at 24,708.40. Broader markets also closed with gains.
Most sectoral indices finished in the green, except for realty and PSU banks. Nifty IT and Nifty Oil & Gas were the highest gainer in sectors. Meanwhile, Nifty Realty and Nifty PSU Bank lost the most.
On the Nifty, top gainers included Trent, Infosys, TCS, Titan, and Dr. Reddy’s. The laggards were SBI Life, HDFC Life, Bajaj Auto, NTPC, and Grasim.

Asian markets opened lower amid volatility in the U.S. markets.
In the U.S., all major indices ended in the red. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.55% to 44,765. The S&P 500 slipped 0.19% to 6,075, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.18% to close at 19,700.
