IndiGo is solidifying its long-term plans well into the next decade by committing to purchase 500 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. This significant order ensures a consistent flow of deliveries for IndiGo between 2030 and 2035.
Not only is this order the largest in IndiGo’s history, but it also represents the largest-ever single aircraft purchase made by any airline from Airbus. The selection of engines for this order and the specific combination of A320 and A321 aircraft will be determined at a later stage.
Presently, IndiGo operates a fleet of over 300 aircraft and has existing orders for 480 more aircraft, scheduled for delivery from now until the end of the current decade. In addition to these orders, IndiGo has now placed a firm order for 500 aircraft to be delivered between 2030 and 2035.
This new order brings IndiGo’s total order book to nearly 1,000 aircraft, encompassing a combination of A320NEO, A321NEO, and A321XLR aircraft, which will be delivered well into the next decade.
With this new order, IndiGo and Airbus’ strategic relationship will reach unprecedented depths and breadth. With this new order, IndiGo has placed a total of 1,330 orders with Airbus since its inception in 2006.
At around 1.15 PM, IndiGo was trading 0.44% higher at Rs 2,443.05 apiece, against the previous close of Rs 2,432.30 on NSE. The counter touched an intraday high and low of Rs 2,490 and Rs 2,436.05 respectively.
