According to Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Mittal, the business will lead the way in bringing 5G connectivity to India and will have a strong network to serve the nation’s digital-first economy.
Given that 5G spectrum auctions are about to start, Mittal’s remarks gain relevance. The auction, which is set to start on July 26, will feature a total of 72 GHz (gigahertz) of radiowaves valued at at least Rs4.3 lakh crore. The Telecom Department is performing a mock auction (mock drill) ahead of the major event on Friday and Saturday (July 22 and July 23).
Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea are scheduled to take part in the 5G spectrum auction as a division of billionaire Gautam Adani’s Adani Enterprise Ltd. India is prepared for 5G services, which will introduce ultra-high speeds (about 10 times faster than 4G) and usher in cutting-edge applications and business models.
Sunil Mittal stated in Bharti Airtel’s annual report 2021—2022 that the company will “be in the forefront of bringing 5G connectivity to India with a robust network that will assist India’s digital-first economy.”
