K Krithivasan assumes charge as new CEO of TCS from June 1
K. Krithivasan, who was named CEO-designate of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on March 16, took full command of India’s largest information technology (IT) services firm by market cap on June 1, 2023.
According to industry experts and observers, the exit of former CEO Rajesh Gopinathan will not create any uncertainty for the company, of which Krithivasan is the fifth CEO in its 55-year history.
Krithivasan, who has been with TCS for over 34 years, will be the company’s oldest CEO. His predecessor, Gopinathan, was the youngest appointee, taking over in 2017 at the age of 46.
Krithivasan’s journey at TCS has encompassed a diverse range of leadership positions, where he has excelled in fostering strong customer relationships, ensuring efficient service delivery, driving sales growth, and effectively managing large-scale programs.
Before assuming his current role as CEO and MD, Krithivasan served as the President and Global Head of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) vertical, a crucial sector responsible for a significant 32% share of the company’s overall revenue.
