The 80-megawatt floating solar project in Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh was awarded to NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd on Tuesday. According to a statement by NTPC, the Madhya Pradesh discoms will receive the electricity produced by the project. The electricity generator NTPC has a subsidiary called NTPC Renewable Energy.
Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited, a joint venture between Solar Energy Corporation of India and MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd., conducted the auction on August 8, 2023. The tariff found is Rs 3.80/kWh,’ it stated.
The NTPC Group now has 3.3 GW of operational renewable energy (RE) capacity, and another 20 GW of operational RE capacity is planned, including a 4 GW energy storage system and the first green hydrogen-based piped natural gas blending project in the nation.
By 2032, NTPC wants to have 60 GW of RE capacity.
