Larsen & Toubro’s heavy civil infrastructure business has received an order from the prestigious Greenko group, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, to develop an off-stream pumped storage project in Madhya Pradesh.
The project’s civil and hydromechanical works will be completed over the course of 30 months by a consortium led by Larsen & Toubro. When completed, the project will be one of India’s largest clean energy projects of its kind.
Securing this pumped storage system order reaffirms Larsen & Toubro’s commitment to strengthening India’s clean energy sector and is a step closer to the country’s goal of carbon neutrality.
The project entails building an Upper Dam (to form the upper reservoir), an Intake Structure with Approach Channel, a Steel Lined Buried Penstock/Pressure Shaft (Vertical & Horizontal), a Surface Powerhouse, a Draft tube tunnel, a Tailrace Outlet Structure, a Tailrace channel, and other structures.
The Gandhisagar Pumped Storage Project (PSP) envisions the construction of an upper reservoir near Khemla block village (about 75 kilometres from Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh), with the existing Gandhisagar reservoir serving as the lower reservoir.
At around 1.13 PM, Larsen & Toubro was trading at Rs2,046.30 apiece, up by 1.08% from its previous closing of Rs2,024.40 on the BSE. The scrip touched intraday high and low of Rs2,049.40 and Rs2,029.25 respectively.
