L&T Technology services and NVIDIA enter partnership with focus on software-defined architecture of medical devices

20 Nov 2023 , 01:27 PM

L&T Technology Services Limited has announced a partnership with NVIDIA to create software-defined architectures for endoscopy-focused medical devices. This partnership will improve the products’ scalability and image quality.

This inventive method addresses the issues of cost, dependence, and availability associated with unique and proprietary hardware components that affect the whole industry. The architecture is a multi-application, scalable platform that gives the medical community a real-time decision-making tool.

The architecture, which was created from the ground up, includes a pipeline for image processing that can be used for speckle correction, texture and colour enhancement, edge and contrast enhancement, and noise reduction. Its use of AI/ML models created for the identification, categorization, and detection of polyps—abnormal growths frequently discovered during colonoscopies—sets it distinct. The solution’s intuitive UI and flawless integration of the image processing pipeline for visualization leave a lasting impression. It promises scalability, improved picture processing without performance constraints, and low-latency data transport.

The partnership makes use of the NVIDIA Holoscan and NVIDIA IGX Orin platforms, which offer incredibly low data transfer latency, excellent image processing, and scalability to accommodate a variety of AI-enabled applications. This contributes to improved visualization for AI-based decision assistance and image processing, including polyp detection and categorization.

According to Shanker Trivedi, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Business at NVIDIA, ‘LTTS’s medical device development expertise combined with NVIDIA’s full-stack edge AI computing platform delivers unprecedented value to the medical technology industry by accelerating the development of AI-enabled, software-defined medical devices.’ ‘With real-time AI applications, this partnership offers customers a comprehensive solution to shift to a software-defined business model.’

‘Our partnership with NVIDIA enables us to expand the limits of medical imaging capabilities,’ stated Amit Chadha, L&T Technology Services’ CEO and Managing Director. ‘By improving image quality and providing real-time clinical decision-making support, the combination of the NVIDIA IGX Orin hardware platform and the NVIDIA Holoscan software platform for edge AI inference accelerates the development of AI-powered medical imaging solutions, improving patient outcomes and increasing clinician efficiency.’
