Markets in a bloodbath; Sensex falls 750 pts, Nifty below 17,900

Domestic benchmark indices trading in the red with Nifty falling below 18,000-mark on Tuesday’s trading session. Both the Sensex and Nifty benchmarks are 1% lower in the afternoon market session. Moreover, Indian markets may witness volatility among sectors amid weak global cues.

On the sectoral front, all the sectoral indices are trading in the deep red territory. IT and metal index underperformed by tumbling over 1.2% followed by auto, pharma and metal stocks plunging marginally. PSU Bank stocks were 3% lower, being the top laggard of the Nifty 50 index.

At around 2:00 PM, Sensex was trading at 59,998.25 lower by 759.06 points or 1.25%. Nifty 50 traded at 17,871.05 lower 230.15 points or 1.27%.

Top Gainers on Nifty 50 are: Tata Motors (+5.9%), APL Apollo (+1.2%), Hindalco (+0.7%) supported by Divis Lab (+0.6%) and ONCG (+0.4%). Meanwhile, top losers on Nifty are: Adani Enterprises (-7.2%), Adani Ports (-3.9%), Eicher Motors (-3.2%), Bharti Airtel (-2.8%) and Grasim (-2.3%).

Further, Tata Motors rallied 6% so far today logging its best single-day gain since August 2022. Jaguar Land Rover, owned by Tata Motors, reported a jump of 5.9% in Q3 retail sales on yoy basis.
